Description
These three Peking ducks spent the summer in my yard as a grasshopper control crew. There was a bit of a learning curve involved. They didn't seem to understand their job when they first arrived. I became quite adept at catching grasshoppers and tossing them to the ducks! Once they figured out that I wasn't going to spend the day feeding them grasshoppers they began to catch the hoppers for themselves. Then everyone was happy!
A Pekin duck is a breed of duck. Also known as a Long Island duck, this domesticated descendant of the Mallard has a yellow bill, white plumage, and orange webs and is the most popular commercial duck breed in America, where they're raised primarily for egg and meat production.
