This little beauty is a native wild flower here in Colorado. This is Cutleaf or Crownleaf Evening Primrose. There is just something about how it holds the light and throws shadows that I love.
Common name: Cutleaf evening primrose, crownleaf evening primrose
Family: Evening Primrose (Onagraceae)
Scientific name: Oenothera coronopifolia
Main flower color: White
Range: The Four Corners states, plus south Wyoming and parts of the Great Plains
Height: Up to 12 inches
Habitat: Dry hillsides, grassland, sandy locations; plains and foothills
Leaves: Finely divided into short, thin lobes, often reddish at the tips
Season: April to August
